Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple

This ancient Shiva temple holds great relevance as this is where the Pandavas and Sage Vyasa had worshipped. The multi-tiered gate greets you to a divine space where the heart and soul are in complete bliss. As per history, the famous Nataraj statue situated inside the sanctum sanctorum of the temple was donated by the erstwhile Maharaja of Travancore. Thanneermukkom Bund

The Thanneermukkom bund was constructed to prevent tidal action and intrusion of salt water is one of the places to visit in Kumarakom as it is the largest mud-regulator in India. As the barrier divides the lake into two parts one with brackish water and the other half with fresh water fed by the rivers draining into the lake, it has distinctive shades of green and blue.The Thanneermukkom saltwater barrier connects the two districts of Kottayam and Alapuzzha with Vechoor villages lined on either side of the bund.

This ancient Shiva temple at Vaikom is the most revered Hindu temple. The temple takes pride in the golden flagstaff and the inner roof has sculpted narration of the Ramayana.
