Zenkov Cathedral is one of the most magnificent architectural landmarks of Almaty, standing 56 meters tall within Panfilov Park. Also known as Ascension Cathedral, it was supervised by architect A. Zenkov in the early 20th century and is famous for its unique wooden construction. Although often believed to be built without nails, the structure actually used advanced engineering techniques of its time, including reinforced concrete, timber preservation, and a semi-ruche ventilation system, making it remarkably earthquake-resistant and architecturally unique.
